surgeons specializing in Surgical Management of Carotid Arterial
Disease, Abdominal Aortic Disease, Peripheral Arterial Disease,
and Renal Arterial Disease.
Eric
S. Berens, M.D., FACS, RVT
One of the first U.S. surgeons
certified to perform endoluminal stent-graft repair of abdominal aortic
aneurysms and a leader in Southern Arizona in the use of atherectomy in
peripheral arterial disease.
A graduate of the University of Arizona Medical School, Dr. Berens
served as an instructor of vascular surgery at Washington University and
completed his fellowship in vascular surgery at Mayo Clinic in
Rochester, Minnesota.
He has been in practice in Tucson since 1992 and established the Arizona
Endovascular Center in 2002. Dr. Berens is a leading expert in the
newest endovascular techniques including carotid stenting and is the
principal investigator for two clinical research studies involving the
genetic makeup of plaque and carotid stent treatments.
Ronald
A. Kline, M.D., FACS, FAHA
is a leader in the field of limb salvage vascular surgery and is one of
only three vascular surgeons in the world recognized and accomplished in
the area of vertebral artery surgery. He was recently named one of the
country's top vascular surgeons by the Consumers Research Council of
America.
Dr. Kline holds a B.S. and M.D. degrees from the University of
Pittsburg, where his thesis work is medical microbiology and mycology
earned him the honor of Natural Science Division Scholar and he
graduated Summa Cum Laude. During his residency and Vascular Surgery
Fellowship at Wayne State University, he researched experimental
treatments for ischemic stroke, blood substitutes, and the
microcirculation of the brain. He also completed a Stroke Fellowship and
helped establish the Stroke Unit at Harper University Hospital.
Dr. Kline served as program director of Vascular Surgery at Detroit
Medical Center and Harper University Hospital, director of the Limb
Salvage Service at Harper University Hospital, and chief of staff at

Christopher N. Compton, M.D.
completed his fellowship in vascular surgery as the University of
Pittsburgh Medical Center and residency in General Surgery at Case
Western Reserve University.
In 1992, Dr. Compton led a research team for the American Heart
Association, investigating the effect of sepsis on the vascular system.
His research led to the development of a new treatment protocol for
septic patients.
At the 2004 Society of Clinical Vascular Surgery annual meeting, Dr.
Compton presented data demonstrating the safety of aortic aneurysm
repair in high-risk patients with home oxygen-dependent pulmonary
disease.
Dr. Compton is widely published in the Journal of Vascular Surgery,
Journal of Trauma, and the Southern Medical Journal and has written
numerous textbook chapters.
His area of expertise encompass all aspects of vascular care, including
aortic aneurysms, carotid disease, peripheral vascular disease,
